Piano Lessons

Beginning piano &
                   piano as a secondary instrument

Already play one instrument but want to...

...learn a chordal instrument to improve your music theory and ear training skills?

...learn to accompany your friends and family (or yourself while singing!)?

...have fun learning a new instrument?

Are you new to piano or self taught?

Do you want to...

...improve your counting and rhythm?

...play songs you've learned on your own with more accuracy and musicality?

...play with confidence and without tension?

Our Lessons

Are we a good fit?

I am not a concert pianist. I play piano to accompany my students, to improve my overall musicianship, and mostly, for fun! Piano students who take lessons with me enjoy a relaxed approach - playing for the fun of playing while still improving their overall musicianship

I apply the same teaching techniques and philosophy to piano lessons as I do to flute (my primary instrument) lessons. I work with students to clean up and solidify fundamentals like note reading, counting, and fingering so students can level up their playing and play along with other musicians.

My piano students steadily progress through their method books and excel in sight reading.

Our first lesson together includes a ~15 minute consultation so we can discuss your goals and get to know each other.

Lessons include:

Monthly masterclass (currently held on Zoom)

Monthly practice competition, with prizes!

Monthly etude challenge

Recitals in Fall and Spring

Fieldtrips (once this is safe again for everyone)

Music Theory & History

Ensemble and Performance Opportunities

Lesson length is typically 30 minutes.
